Remember Peter Rabbit and all those charming illustrations and stories from when you were a child? Or, maybe you've given Beatrix Potter's books as a gift. Either way, she was many people's first introduction to the stories and pictures from the natural world. Though her animal characters were playful and often wore clothes, they were based on real life animals.
She drew very carefully and over many years the various animals on her British farm. While she always wanted to tell a good story, just as important in her mind was to have an accurate depiction of the various animals that filled her sweet stories. If you haven't read one in a while, check one out from the library when you get a chance. You'll be surprised at how the magic has not lessened with the years. For old fashioned romance, try the flowering dogwood among our bareroot stock.
