Do you remember Victory Gardens fondly? If not, maybe your parents or grandparents do. Many folks grew them back during both World Wars. They were intended to help families deal with the constant food rationing of canned goods and other daily necessities. Even Eleanor Roosevelt caught the fever and had a Victory Garden in the White House.
At one point, so many people grew vegetables in their home gardens as part of the community wide effort, the amount of produce equaled that produced commercially. People were so gung ho to not feel deprived during rationing that they began gardening on roof tops of city buildings when no yards were available. If you'd like that self sufficient feeling of producing a portion of your own family's food, consider blackberries or raspberries in our online plant nursery.
